You knew this was coming.
While it may seem egregious to some to put a newly promoted Challenger team -- one who has yet to play a single game in the LCS -- into the top 20 teams in the World, that is how confident we are in their talent. Unicorns of Love is the real deal.
The team has gained a reputation for surprise picks and cheese strategies, but they are not a gimmick team. In fact they don't need surprise picks to win. Their victory against TSM at Intel Extreme Masters was fueled in Game 1 by a jungle Twisted Fate, but their play in Game 2 was just a good old-fashion beat down within the current meta.
Their counter-engagements and map control was absolutely world class. Unicorns of Love create an interesting problem that they've demonstrated in all of their broadcast games so far -- it's more or less impossible to ban out their solo laners. Both Vizicsacsi and PowerOfEvil have shown prowess on both meta picks and pocket picks, and don't force themselves to play off-meta champions.
If Unicorns of Love had shown consistency for a longer period, we would have moved them higher -- but we have to be realistic. It's still too early to tell if PowerOfEvil will be a top-tier mid laner in Europe, or if Vizicsacsi will revolutionize what is meta in top lane. Their time on the pro scene is very limited, much of their dominance has been against inferior teams, and they did struggle against Cloud9 despite dominating TSM. However, we feel confident enough in the Unicorns to give them this ranking, and we wouldn't be surprised if they ended up higher by the end of Spring Split.
