Preview and Predictions LCS EU Week 2
Last week the European LCS opened with some suprises. What seemed to be the weaker teams ended up taking the top spots. Who would have thought that Giants and the new Fnatic would have such an easy time during the first week of the EU LCS. This time, will they be able to continue their momentum and keep their success up until the end of the split? Teams like SK and Elements are surely sizing up their opponents as we speak and there will come a time when they will surely rise up to the occasion and take the top spot away from these new teams. The question in when? Read on below to find out who might take the top spot in week 2.
Pre-match analysis LCS EU Spring Split 2015 | Week 2 – Day 1
Match #1: H2K vs. MEET YOUR MAKERS
(Jan 29th, 9:00 AM PST/ 12:00 PM EST/ 6:00 PM CET)
Both teams suffered heavily losses within the first week of the LCS. H2k had the mistakes on a new team. Communication is one of the hardest skill to attain when it comes to a team sport like League and their games during the first week was evident of that. There are times when their jungler would initiate without having any back up force from the rest of the team. As of right now, H2k Gaming is playing the Solo Queue mentality and they need to change it fast before the other teams can exploit it. On the other hand, you also have MeetYourMakers who have been playing really bad against other teams considering they have been in the LCS for over a year now. You can always blame the reason that they have a new team member but that should not stop them from dominating the game. MYM is in a tough spot after the first week but fortunately, they still have a few more weeks to fix their problems. This week, against H2k, MYM will have a breathing room.
Prediction: MrRallez and company need to step it up this week or else run the risk of being the last place for the coming weeks.
Match #2: UNICORNS OF LOVE vs. GIANTS GAMING
(Jan 29th, 10:00 AM PST/ 1:00 PM EST/ 7:00 PM CET)
Unicorns of Love stumbled during the first week of the LCS but they were able to prevent a complete disaster by winning their second game of the week. Giants however surprised everyone with how good they have become. When compared to Unicorns, Giants has an outstanding 8.8 KDA as a team against a 3.9 which means that Giants have been racking up kills during the first week of the LCS. Although both team share a similar gold per minute stat, Giants have put such gold to good use with an average of 16 champions killed per game whereas the Unicorns only had 12 champions killed per game. Giants attribute their recent victory to their jungler Frederic. With a KDA of 19 against Kikis’ 5, Frederic has been instrumental to every teamfights for Giants. This goes to show that Unicorns should focus on shutting down Frederic first before they can pull an advantage against Giants and the Unicorns can do it with Kikis and his unconventional picks.
Prediction: If UOL is able to shut down the enemy jungle, they are able to get an advantage over the game and win this match.
Match #3: FNATIC vs. ROCCAT
(Jan 29th, 11:00 AM PST/ 2:00 PM EST/ 8:00 PM CET)
When it comes to Fnatic, even when the old members are gone, the team still retained their talents for aggressive laning thanks to Yellowstar. Yellowstar has been fantastic all week long with his Annie. In fact, he is last week’s MVP with this amazing display of Annie support. Stunning people left and right and setting up for his team or simply turning team fights to their favor, Yellowstar is indeed the star of Fnatic last week. But, it does not mean that he has taken the spotlight out of his team mates. Overall, the team managed to get a KDA of 10.35 while Roccat only have 2.59. Fnatic spent their time farming champions instead of gold while Roccat played a more passive game by earning more minion kills of 1072 against Fnatic’s 858. This resulted to 24 champions killed per game for Fnatic which just goes to show how aggressive they have become over the course of the game. Fnatic knows how to snowball a game to their favor but the problem now is if they get behind, the champions they pick usually rely on snowballing hence it will really cause a massive headache for the team in case they are behind.
Prediction: Fortunately, they are against a passive team with Roccat and this will surely be a display of Fnatic’s trademark aggression.
Match #4: SK GAMING vs. GAMBIT GAMING
(Jan 29th, 12:00 PM PST/ 3:00 PM EST/ 9:00 PM CET)
Things will be bleak for Gambit for the second week of the EU LCS as they will be facing SK this time around. The Russian squad faced a beating in the first week and will most likely continue this week against SK.
Prediction: SK Gaming takes a win.
Match #5: ELEMENTS vs. COPENHAGEN WOLVES
(Jan 29th, 1:00 PM PST/ 4:00 PM EST/ 10:00 PM CET)
Elements seemed to be out of their element during the first week of the LCS. They were plagued with miscalls and misplays but they were able to prevent a major disaster by winning a game. This time, they will be facing a familiar foe with Copenhagen Wolves. Historically, the Wolves always had trouble playing with Alliance/Elements. This match will be one of them. Elements have grown stronger with the acquisition of Rekkles and will only go stronger as the weeks go by.
Prediction: The Wolves cower back with another loss.
Pre-match analysis LCS EU Spring Split 2015 | Week 2 – Day 2
Match #1: GAMBIT GAMING vs. FNATIC
(Jan 30th, 9:00 AM PST/ 12:00 PM EST/ 6:00 PM CET)
Things get more difficult for Gambit this week as they will be facing Fnatic. Gambit needs to show up and get back on their feet and relive the glory they had once during Season Two. Alas, it would take a lot more effort from them to get back to what they once were. Hopefully, with a few more games under their belt, P1noy and the rest of the Russian squad will have the experience and synergy to get back on top.
Prediction: As for now, Fnatic takes another win.
Match #2: GIANTS GAMING vs. H2K
(Jan 30th, 10:00 AM PST/ 1:00 PM EST/ 7:00 PM CET)
Giants will continue their dominant streak in this match up against H2k. With a KDA of 8.8 against 1.62, Giants know when a fight will break and when to fend it off with a disengage. Based on the gold earned per minute and minions killed, it just goes to show that Giants are far better at farming gold through champion kills by having more gold per minute than H2k at 1797 against 1422 even though they only have an average of 957 minions killed per game against H2k’s 1049. This resulted in 16 champions killed per game against 9 for H2k who have been quite underwhelming last week.
Prediction: With such statistics, it is very hard not to root for Giants to win this game against H2k
Match #3: ELEMENTS vs. ROCCAT
(Jan 30th, 11:00 AM PST/ 2:00 PM EST/ 8:00 PM CET)
Elements know they can take on Roccat so it will be a match that Roccat needs to improve on if they want to find a way to take a win this week.
Prediction: Elements take another win.
Match #4: SK GAMING vs. UNICORNS OF LOVE
(Jan 30th, 12:00 PM PST/ 3:00 PM EST/ 9:00 PM CET)
Both teams love unconventional picks. nRated even got a Galio support during the early days of the Season 4 Spring Split while Kikis blindsided TSM with a Jungle Twisted Fate pick. This time though, things will surely heat up as both teams will try to outsmart each other during the pick and ban phase. Both teams know that they have something up their sleeve in this match and it is time to bring out the big guns. When comparing their statistics, both teams are fairly even but the advantage goes over to the Unicorns. After having a loss under their belt, they still manage to nearly surpass SK’s stats last week. SK managed to kill an average of 13 champions per game but with a loss, the Unicorns had 12 champion kills on average. An amazing feat from a team that seemed to come out of nowhere.
The focus for both teams will be on the junglers. Kikis and Svenskeren have two different champion pools. Kikis loves the assassin junglers like Rengar and Elise while Svenskeren would love to tank for his team with Jarvan. When compared, Kikis would naturally have a better KDA against Svenskeren with a 5 against Sven’s 4. However, Svenskeren tends to take the kill for himself by having 3 champions killed per game while Kikis lets his team mates have the killing blow by having only 1 champion killed per game. This makes Kikis a more effectie jungler than Svenskeren but, if it comes to late game and with little gold in his pocket, Kikis’ assassin champions will most likely run into a huge problem. Without any inate tankiness, his Rengar and Elise will be ignored or will only be used to initiate teamfights which Svenskeren’s Jarvan is better at.
Prediction: The Unicorns are playing a ticking time bomb against SK Gaming so they need to burst through the door and end the game as soon as they get the advantage.
Match #5: MEET YOUR MAKERS vs. COPENHAGEN WOLVES
(Jan 30th, 1:00 PM PST/ 4:00 PM EST/ 10:00 PM CET)
Both teams are familiar with each other and will most likely break out in a draw. Former Supa Hot Crew already had an edge against the Wolves way back in Season 4 and will most likely take that advantage to tide over the game against them.
Prediction: MYM closes out the second week of the EU LCS with a win against the Wolves.
